Zello uses whatever your phone has set up for speaker/microphone, so if a headset is connected, you can use it with Zello. And you can also talk to groups (channels) and replay messages and some more. The nice thing Zello adds to a direct phone call is that you do not have to dial first, it also stores sent messages, and if either side has no coverage sends them later when reception is restored. Zello sends messages over your mobile network, so distance between pilots is not relevant as long as both have mobile coverage. If I can stream music while flying, I assume I can also use zello. I don't know what Zena is, but my (very limited) understanding of zello is that it uses mobile networks. Posted: Mon 11:10 UTC Post subject: RE: Zello and (After)Shokz for inflight communication Isnt the range really small on thoses devices ? I recall the Zena being like less than 1km of clear space Posted: Mon 11:00 UTC Post subject: RE: Zello and (After)Shokz for inflight communication Is there a quick guide/thread anywhere with details of how this is done? I know very little about zello. I had idly wondered if they could be used for a zello-type setup so that I could ditch my radio when I'm flying in areas with good mobile coverage. I wear aftershokz for listening to music while flying - have also used them for sending/receiving voice notes on whatsapp while flying so the mic is up to the job. Posted: Mon 1:01 UTC Post subject: RE: Zello and (After)Shokz for inflight communication The supplied earpiece and mic on the t82 are garbage. I currently use a motorola t82 with friends and i'm looking for something similar. Posted: Sun 17:07 UTC Post subject: RE: Zello and (After)Shokz for inflight communication Zello seems to work well with more expensive (ie sena) systems. We also had unreliable results with various cheap Bluetooth mic solutions. Works fine if you have a buff or two to damp out the wind noise. We use the same set up for flying locally. I've also read about bone-conducting headsets before, but guessed wearing them under a balaclava and helmet would not work at all. I think the Zello concept fits well for PG in not-so-remote areas where we have mobile coverage most of the time, if only I can get the audio side sorted out. I've played around with Zello before and even got me and my girlfriend a pair of BT buttons to stick to the risers for easier operation with gloves, but speakers & microphone proved to be not up to the job. Just read about an x-swiss hike&fly by a group of x-alps academy participants and lead by Chrigel (thanks to Lu Glidz' news ticker - in German) and noticed at the very bottom: Posted: Sat 18:39 UTC Post subject: Zello and (After)Shokz for inflight communication View All Topics :: Paragliding Forum - Forum Index -> Paragliding Gear Discussions -> Flight Instruments Zello and (After)Shokz for inflight communication
